Borealis is confident, well mannered, and is a problem solver, making her a pleasure to work with. She has enjoyed robust health, and has successfully balanced heavy fleece growth with steady, uninterrupted physical growth as a cria into adulthood with little difficulty. She would excel in any program looking for a multi-purpose animal who can do PR work while also producing an abundance of highly usable, long-stapled grades 1 and 2 fleece.
Borealis' parents were selected based on their strong traits in consistency, fleece length, and low micron, in addition to the hopes that their tendency towards lower medullation would pass forward as well. I am pleased to see many of her sire and dam's traits running true with Borealis. She is continuing to grow a fine fleece displaying excellent staple length across the blanket, while maintaining a great degree of uniformity across the blanket. Borealis has had outstanding, greasy lustre from day one and maintains this lustre from skin to tip, leaving her practically glowing in even low light conditions.
Solidly built with a correctly conformed, moderate frame, Borealis has the makings of an excellent future dam who should have no difficulties raising vigorous cria herself when the time comes. Her dam has proven to be an excellent producer with great milking abilities, with Borealis having doubled her weight in less than 20 days, and maintained that trajectory well into weaning, where she didn't miss a beat transitioning.
Genetically, Borealis is an exciting combination of not only well known and successful Canadian Lines; but also well known and loved American Lines; alongside Australian lines that are extremely uncommon in North America, with Borealis' great-great-great-grandsire Purrembete Ledger's Dream being one of Australia's "Big Five". There are only two direct descendants of Ledger's Dream having been recognized in Canada, and 37 "grandchildren" in sum between them.
