Services Offered
On-farm services we offer don't just extend to animal sales and shearing education, we also offer stud services and mentorship support.
Education is something that I am passionate about, and making sure it is easy to access with minimal barriers is something that I feel is very important in setting up fellow alpaca owners for success. I have a background in research, with degrees in psychology, as well as many years of experience developing marketing materials. With nearly 2 decades of experience in the alpaca industry now, not only as a producer but also as a volunteer, and combined with my professional background, I have a lot of experience developing and disseminating educational materials in a variety of contexts. Whether it is for print, online use, or as in person or virtual presentations, I like to emphasize on making materials that are easy to learn and accessible for attendees of all experience levels.
I have a number of pre-made presentations ready to go on short notice for nearly any event where someone may want an alpaca specific presentation to be offered, and there are pre-recorded presentations that are publicly available in partnership with other groups and agencies I have worked with in the past that I am happy to share upon request. Depending on your goals, custom presentations can also be discussed.
Stud Services
Breedings are available to any publicly available make in the FTP herd, and can be arranged with multi-female discounts. Breeding season is between June 1 and August 31, with a 3 week live cria guarantee.
Females must be healthy and free of communicable diseases, halter trained, and in good body condition.
Workshops & Webinars
If you are looking for educational opportunities for your farm, event, or association, I offer low cost presentations on alpacas and alpaca behaviour virtually and in person. Areas I have covered in previous presentations include basic alpaca care, how to prepare for raising alpacas, industry practices, behaviour modification/training, networking, marketing materials, and animal assisted interventions. I can also tailor make presentations specific to your goals, upon request.
Shearing Lessons
If you would like to learn how to shear your own alpacas, I offer shearing lessons throughout the annual shearing season. Participants will learn about the equipment used for shearing, how to set up and use an electric shearing handpiece, how to maintain their shearing equipment, how to safely restrain and shear alpacas, as well as basics for fibre harvest and management.
